                                                        Bicaz

SCOALA CU CLASELE I-VIII NR. 1

School no 1 Bicaz is an elementary education establishment (having forms starting with first grade to the VIIIth grade) and it is situated in Bicaz, a little town from Neamţ county, at 360 km distance from the capital of Romania, Bucharest. The North – East Region in which Secondary School no 1 Bicaz is situated is disadvantaged from a social – economic point of view because of the close – down of a lot of factories, so the number of unemployed is a very high one (39% avarage from Bicaz population). The lack of a proper job means poor income that is the reason for which we have a lot of students with minimum financial possibilities. There are also a lot of people who work abroad.

Because of these two things mentioned above we have problems with the students coming from disorganized families, those coming from poor families or students whose parents work abroad (10%, respectively 16% average from the schooling population), who have difficulties in reaching our educational standards. The school’s staff and The Psycho-pedagogical Centre supervise these student’s activity and offer them assistance and advice.

Our institution is open to accomplish educational programmes for students of any nationality or religion, trying to get over the impediments coming out of bias and obsolete mentality.

Taking part in such a project which has no frontiers between countries offers us the opportunity of creating the premises of confirming our choice for a civilized world in which communication, tolerance and mutual respect are a priority. It is important to know that we are not alone, that there are young people who think and act like we do. It is also important to understand that there are other educational different models, other methods of organizing the educational system and a different management, too.

Participating in such a project will be for us a great opportunity of advertising our region, of increasing the way in which people perceive the importance of school among the local community, of making school more attractive for students, of established relationship with persons from different countries, of enriching the teacher’s experience, of reducing the imaginary distance between teacher and pupil, of creating a social European culture, and also the opportunity of informing ourselves about the culture, history and customs of other European countries.
